How ‘Bout Them Flyers?

Posted: February 21, 2013 in Uncategorized

ImageWhat a win! This game had everything. Fights, goals, cheap penalties called in the Penguins’ favor. Everything…well, with the exception of the NBC broadcast crew mentioning Jake Voracek’s hat-trick…That was conspicuously missing from the night.

As mentioned, Voracek snags his first three-goal evening of his career. Meanwhile, Wayne Simmonds tallies a Gordie Howe hat-trick (goal, assist, fight) with two goals, an assist, and a nasty bout with Deryk Engelland of the Penguins.

Oh, it also had perhaps the most memorable goal of the season for Philadelphia. A wild net-mouth scramble in which half the Pittsburgh team looked like they were sun-bathing in the crease. Seriously, when was the last time that there were five players for the defending team in the crease and none of them were the goalie. Just a weird night from Consol Energy Center. But, a great night.

ImageFlyers are back-in-action tonight against the Florida Panthers. The orange-and-black are 1-0-1 against Sunrise’s own this season.
