Week 10 NFL Picks

Posted: November 7, 2012 in Uncategorized

Can the Eagles rebound from four consecutive losses?

Last Week: 10-4
2012 Season: 67-62-2

Indianapolis Colts (5-3) AT Jacksonville Jaguars (1-7)

The Spread: Indianapolis by 3
The Pick: Indianapolis
The Score: Indianapolis, 20-7
The Rationale: The Jaguars and Chiefs are the two worst teams in the NFL. Thank goodness that they’re both in primetime games this week! Andrew Luck shaved his head to support Chuck Pagano in his fight against Leukemia. There won’t be much of a fight in this one.

New York Giants (6-3) AT Cincinnati Bengals (3-5)

The Spread: New York by 4
The Pick: Cincinnati
The Score: New York, 24-23
The Rationale: A last second Lawrence Tynes field goal will be the difference in this one. The Giants haven’t been able to close recently, and I think that Cincinnati is just desperate enough to keep this one close.

Tennessee Titans (3-6) AT Miami Dolphins (4-4)

The Spread: Miami by 6
The Pick: Miami
The Score: Miami, 27-17
The Rationale: It’s tough to take the Dolphins by a touchdown because their offense tends to be inconsistent behind a rookie Quarterback. But, the Titans’ defense is one of the worst I have ever seen, and their turnover-fest last week just proved how inept they really are.

Detroit Lions (4-4) AT Minnesota Vikings (5-4)

The Spread: Detroit by 2
The Pick: Minnesota
The Score: Minnesota, 26-20
The Rationale: The Vikings have the best RB in football in Adrian Peterson. The Lions have no one worth mentioning behind Matt Stafford. With Calvin Johnson still nursing an injury, I think the Vikings get a critical home victory against their division rival.

Buffalo Bills (3-5) AT New England Patriots (5-3)

The Spread: New England by 11
The Pick: New England
The Score: New England, 38-21
The Rationale: Buffalo has been brutal defensively this year and New England is coming off a bye. I find no incentive to pick a Ryan Fitzpatrick led offense against Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

Atlanta Falcons (8-0) AT New Orleans Saints (3-5)

The Spread: Atlanta by 2.5
The Pick: Atlanta
The Score: Atlanta, 45-20
The Rationale: I guess I understand why this spread is so low. The Falcons didn’t look great last week and the Saints are a tough offense at home. But, they still have the worst defense in the league and Matt Ryan still has weapons galore. Big win for Atlanta as they move to the verge of 10-0.

San Diego Chargers (4-4) AT Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-4)

The Spread: Tampa Bay by 3
The Pick: Tampa Bay
The Score: Tampa Bay, 33-27
The Rationale: Tampa has proven that they can put up points against mediocre defenses. Well, in comes the Chargers’ average bunch of gridiron warriors and out they’ll leave with another loss. Norv Turner’s carriage may soon turn into a pumpkin.

Denver Broncos (5-3) AT Carolina Panthers (2-6)

The Spread: Denver by 3.5
The Pick: Denver
The Score: Denver, 27-14
The Rationale: I must have missed where Vegas started believing in Cam Newton again. Sorry, one win over the Washington Redskins doesn’t make me feel any more confident in the Panthers. Peyton will have a field day.

Oakland Raiders (3-5) AT Baltimore Ravens (6-2)

The Spread: Baltimore by 7.5
The Pick: Baltimore
The Score: Baltimore, 30-21
The Rationale: I see a lot of people picking Oakland to cover this game and I have to wonder why. Baltimore is banged up, yes. But, they’re at home against one of the most turnover prone Quarterbacks in football, Carson Palmer. Ed Reed has to be licking his chops this week.

Dallas Cowboys (3-5) AT Philadelphia Eagles (3-5)

The Spread: Dallas by 1
The Pick: Philadelphia
The Score: Philadelphia, 27-24
The Rationale: In a matchup of two disappointing franchises, the Eagles should have enough air left in their deflated balloons to take down Tony Romo and the ‘Boys. This is a critical game for both teams and coaches, as both Jason Garrett and Andy Reid are rumored to be on their way out the door.

New York Jets (3-5) AT Seattle Seahawks (5-4)

The Spread: Seattle by 6.5
The Pick: Seattle
The Score: Seattle, 23-12
The Rationale: I really think New York might get shutout in this game. But, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and four Nick Folk field goals. The Seahawks haven’t lost at home this season.

St. Louis Rams (3-5) AT San Francisco 49ers (6-2)

The Spread: San Francisco by 11.5
The Pick: St. Louis
The Score: San Francisco, 16-13
The Rationale: I have recently gotten into the bad habit of picking teams favored by double digits. I need to stop doing that. So, I’ll go with St. Louis to cover. I just think this divisional matchup will stay close until the end.

Houston Texans (7-1) AT Chicago Bears (7-1)

The Spread: Chicago by 1
The Pick: Houston
The Score: Houston, 23-20
The Rationale: A lot of people think Chicago will take this one at home. I’m of the belief that Matt Schaub is a better Quarterback than Jay Cutler. When in doubt, take the better quarterback.

Kansas City Chiefs (1-7) AT Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3)

The Spread: Pittsburgh by 12.5
The Pick: Pittsburgh
The Score: Pittsburgh, 35-14
The Rationale: And last, but, probably least as well; the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. KC is the worst team in football evidenced by the fact that they haven’t held a single lead all year in any game. How is that even possible? Only Romeo Crennel knows. Steelers win easily.
